TAKUYA KANEDA

Artist, Professor of Art Education

 

Born in 1955. He studied art history and aesthetics at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music. Since his student time, he extensively travelled in South Asian countries. After his graduation, he joined a team to make a documentary video on traditional Buddhist rituals in Nepal. He also voluntarily worked in Afghan refugee camp in Pakistan. He received Ph. D. in the field of art education. He has been conducting various art project for children in many countries as the representative of Kids' Guernica International Peace Mural project. He also published several picture books to introduce different cultures.

He mainly expresses the relationship with the nature using natural materials available in our environment through the concept of P3578. 

As an attempt of Socially Engaged Art, he is exploring the possibility of sustainable development through art in a remote mountain village of Nepal.
